Learn how to multiply multiplying your hands.

Memorizing your times tables can be very helpful when working on Math problems. However, if you struggle with learning the times tbles or want a nice trick for multiplying numbers then you can use your hands to multiply 6,7,8,9, and 10.

Here is how it works. Watching the video will help also.

Step 1. Number your hands starting at the pinkie 6 through 10.

See the picture below.

Step 2. We will multiply 8 times 9

Touch the finger numbered 9 on the left hand to the number 8 finger on the right hand.

Step 3. Multiply the number of fingers above the two fingers touching together. In this example you have one finger above on the left hand and two fingers above on the right hand.

1 x 2 = 2

Step 4. Now count the number of fingers touching, plus are below the two fingers touching. In this example it is 7 fingers.

Multiply this number by 10

7 x 10 = 70

Step 5. Add the amount from step 3 and step 4

2 + 70 = 72

8 times 9 = 72

I have always struggled with sevens,eights, and nines when multiplying and this trick comes in handy. You will find that once you practice this Math tricks several times it becomes really fast and automatic. I work a couple of examples in the video if you are still confused.

Example 2

6 x 7

Step 1. Touch the 6 finger on the left to the 7 finger on the right.

Step 2. Count the numbers above the two fingers touching.

Step 3. Multiply these two numbers

4 x 3 = 12

Step 4. Count the number of fingers touching and below the two touching fingers and multiply by 10

3 x 10 = 30

Step 5. Add step 3 and step 4

12 + 30 = 42

6 x 7 = 42
